Needed just an inexpensive fax for home use. This one is garbage. Trying to get help from their customer service was waiting on hold for 45 minutes, being able to give the customer service rep my name and information, then being disconnected. This fax machine went into the recycling bin!

I bought mine from EXCELBRO. It was shipped and delivered in a few days. I was already familar with the product because one of my in laws had it at her home and I had used it many times. I got the product it was in excellent condition, it worked and had all the parts that it should come with. I was really surprised because of the price. Thank you so much EXCELBRO!!! I love it!!!! I will refer all my friends to AMAZON. At least those who so not already shop here!!

I got this to only send faxes and not receive faxes so the whole ink ribbon ordeal is not an issue for me at all. Overall its a great product if you don’t plan on recieving faxes on a daily basis otherwise, I suggest you get something more cost effective.

I have had this product for quite some time now and it’s still going strong. No problems, no hang ups. Quality faxes received and sent. Great buy!

EASY SET UP – GREAT PRICE – 5 STARS
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I am very impressed by the Brother FAX575 home fax machine. It’s hardly a workhorse but great for a few sheets in or out. The set up was amazing … literally minutes. The instructions walks you through exactly what buttons to push in order. The price was great. Our all in one printer kept jamming constantly with anything more than one sheet so having this dedicated fax will keep our blood pressure down. It has a built in phone and caller ID display. Seriously what more can you ask for??? I give this 5 stars because it deserves it.

“Carbon Paper” results, becaue it uses “carbon paper”.
    Rating:3 out of 5 stars
I purchased this item through a “special deal” very cheap. I’ve read several of the comments about the machine, but there’s one thing that I don’t see explained, and I wish I had known about it before I had made my purchase.

This is indeed a “plain paper” fax machine. But it does NOT use “toner” or an “ink cartridge”. It uses a “ribbon”. What they call the “ribbon” is actually a looooong sheet (spool) of carbon paper (or something like it) on a roll. The number of pages you receive equals the length of “carbon paper” which will be used, no matter if the entire page is filled with print, or only two lines. I’ve also seen people complain about the quality. Again, I remind you that the machine uses “carbon paper” and you should expect “carbon paper” type results. Personally, I’m not looking for great detail in the faxes I’m receiving anyway, so it’s fine. Though I rarely receive faxes, and mostly just send them, it’s still going to use-up the roll of “carbon paper” when the machine is unsure if the fax you were sending to received the fax you were sending. . . because it prints-out a notice. Printing-out a notice takes-up one page on your “carbon paper”. I have read where some people have said that they rolled the carbon paper back onto the spool, so that they could get more use out of it. Well, the risk with that is that if you’re receiving an important fax, and it happens to be at the place on the spool where another fax came through. . . then you’re probably not going to be able to read your important fax because the “carbon paper” spools were meant to be used once, and there’s not going to be any “ink” left for the machine to print. The reason that this machine is so cheap is not because it’s a bad machine. . . but because you’re going to have to keep purchasing the rolls of “carbon paper”.

I think, in the end, you have to look at the overall cost. Compare the cost of this machine, along with having to purchase the rolls of “carbon paper”, and then compare it to a fax machine which uses toner or an ink cartridge and see. . . price wise. . .which is going to work best for you. If you’re only sending faxes, and never receive, then you and re-roll the “carbon paper” after it runs out from printing notices, and you should be fine.

Great product for the home owner that needs to fax a couple times a day. What a bargain, I think they were buying these and selling them on other auction sites. The other really important thing about this product is the replacement roles are very cheap.

    Satisfied with performance and price
    Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I have managed to go my entire life without a fax machine, but lately I have found myself trekking regularly to the library or office supply store to send faxes at $2 or so per page. It was adding up quickly and is at least a little bit inconvenient.

I wanted a simple fax machine with a reasonable price. I didn’t want to have to send a thousand faxes before buying my own personal fax machine became the more economical choice.

All of that said, I am pleased with this machine. I use it solely for faxes, usually sending (not receiving). The phone is fine, but the handset is very small, so I don’t see myself using it regularly. As far as the copier function, it is about standard for fax machines I have used. (It is not the same quality as the copier function of my printer/scanner.)

If you are looking for a simple fax machine at a very affordable price, this unit probably fits that bill. I am pleased with the purchase.

    Perfect Fax for Home Use
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
The price on this item was so inexpensive I can’t believe it! I paid a total of $25.00 and received the perfect machine for at home use. I use my fax on an occassional basis and during a recent job search. I would not recommend this for high usage but it is just right for light to medium home office.

    Best Fax Ever!
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Okay, I bought this fax machine to replace an old dinosaur fax I had since forever!! Hands down, this was the best minimal investment I ever made. I don’t know how I lived without this handy little workhorse! It sends and recieves faces and it also makes black and white photocopies. I paid less than $30 dollars for this Brother 575 Fax and that included shipping. It came with ink pre installed and works beautifully. A real bargain!!

    poor receiving fax
    Rating:2 out of 5 stars
The Brother FAX-575 was purchased at Amazon, however their service was great, but the fax receiveing quality was very poor. I didn’t want to have the problem of using print cartriges of this sort. I’m happy with the ink jet method. The sending was satisfactory, just slow.

  13. Urbanian Says:

    satisfactory performance
    Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I seldom use this fax machine, so my review isn’t weighty, but Amazon keeps asking for my review…

It works fine. Setup can be a little tricky, but the manual is thorough if you have the patience to read it. Once you get the hang of the machine it works pretty good.

This machine uses a roll of carbon paper, not toner or inkjet. This is an advantage if you don’t use it often; the ink doesn’t dry out, but the roll has to be replaced frequently if you use the machine much.

I re-rolled the carbon paper and reused it once to save going to the store for another roll with minimal diminution of quality. The second time I re-rolled it, quality dropped off sharply, so now I need to get to the store.

Not too shabby a machine for not too shabby a price.

    Inexpensive Fax That Works
    Rating:4 out of 5 stars
This is an excellent, inexpensive home fax unit. Fax quality can be increased manually for individual faxes where needed. I use it with a comswitch 7500 and this allows the fax to scan paper documents (any page number) directly into you computer (requires shareware fax software and a modem).

If you are a business that faxes frequently, this machine is not sufficient. However, if you have a small home office area and sometimes need to send or receive faxes, this machine does work. E-mail has overtaken the fax and the fax is now a niche machine.

Those who bother to read the user manual and are willing to tweak the settings to get specific results may find that the low price does not necessarily mean low quality. One star reduced for max 9600 transfer rate.Brother FAX-575 Personal Fax, Phone and Copier

My Brother personal 575 fax machine
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I ordered 2 of these fax machines because I know for a true fact that Brother fax machines are excellent products. I had a brother intellifax775 machine and I’ve had it for the past 10 years and the only reason I can no longer use it is because the hurricane damaged my home two months ago and destroyed a lot of my personal property. But I had no problems with the fax machine at all and I enjoyed the functions of it because it was so very easy and simple to operate. I would advise anyone to purchase “Brother products” because you wont be sorry you did.

For a very limited home use its OK, but there are better for the $$$
    Rating:2 out of 5 stars
The machine feels fragile and goes through the carbon ribbon quickly. After six months of very limited home use, I am hearing a squealing-grinding noise when feeding the fax for a send… I am not sure that the unit will make it a full year. I regret buying it. There are better machines out their for the same money… find one with a refillable cartridge. Conditionally Recommended

I found that the box had not been tampered with and the product was new. The instructions were easy to understand and works for the most part. Some tweeking on my part to get the manuel fax to work. The number for tech support is included and will help. Phone works well. Have not used the fax as yet.

I’ve had this fax machine for a couple of years. I don’t use it a lot, a couple of times a month on average, and only for sending out. I have received a few faxes and it’s okay, tho the printing quality isn’t real good…just okay. I wouldn’t recommend this fax machine for business use, but if you’re like me and just need to fax out now and then from home, it’s perfect.

It came just the way it was advertised, in a box, fully protected. The set up was easy and I sent my registration back to Brothers as my first fax and received a reply back from them via fax. No more running to the drugstore and $3.00 to use their fax facility.

This is a good product, and has also been recommended to me by someone else who had one, he tried other brands of the same product and had constant problems with them. Brother puts out very good products, it is not the first Brother product I have had. You can trust the Brother name on a printer, fax, etc. Laurie Dughi

I am very please with the product. I fax things and this is the perfect machine for the faxing I do. I also made a copy of what I faxed and the copy was clear and readable. The transmission copy was also clear and readable. Most of what I do is fax so this machine is perfect for me. I am pleased with the product.

I use this as an extra phone and also used as a fax which I don’t use that often. The buttons are touch tone and easy to use. However, don’t hold ones finger down too long or it repeats the same number. We attached an answering machine. I recomend the product for home use.

  26. Dudley Delany Says:

    Perfect for My Purposes
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
If you are planning on using it primarily to send faxes, this machine is an absolute, hands-down best buy. However, due to the limited capacity and high cost of replacing the cartridge, it is not cost-effective to receive faxes or make copies. The owner’s manual is a thick a booklet, because the unit has a bewildering array of special features one would expect of a much more expensive device. Some previous reviewers complained of poor quality faxes and copies. That problem can be overcome, however, by setting the “Resolution” adjustment on maximum (i.e., photo-quality) definition.

    Inexpensive fax
    Rating:2 out of 5 stars
For some reason, this fax has issues sending info. I sent a few documents and my transmission report showed the message “poor line condition”. Don’t know what that meant, it wasn’t found anywhere in the manual. I called Brother and had a support technician go through the process of troubleshooting – even sent her a test fax. It went through ok but still gave same error message. She suggested it was something in my phone line and advised I call Verizon or try moving the fax to a different location (phone jack) in my home. I did so with same results. Several important faxes went through, but weren’t received on the other end. It’s hit or miss. I always have to call and verify if faxes are received. Frustrating…

It receives faxes perfectly. Sending is an issue.

Too much hassle. Should’ve invested more $ in another model.

Good Functional Fax, Try to Find it on Sale
    Rating:4 out of 5 stars
The Brother FAX-575 is a fairly good, and inexpensive, home or small office FAX machine. The unit feels a little on the flimsy side, mostly due to the wire paper holders, but is good enough for most uses once in place.

The 575 functioned as expected, able to send and receive FAXes, make quick copies with acceptable quality, and includes a phone handset. It does none of them as well as any one of my all-in-one Scanner/Printer/FAX devices, but it also takes up less room and is somewhat less expensive.

This unit does go on sale fairly often and can often be had for less than the MSRP.

Recommended for limited usage. You might want to consider getting an extra Brother PC501 Print Cartridge (Fax 575), because the one that comes with it runs out fast.
