Good machine
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I bought this Brother because I was stupid enough to first buy an Epson and had to ask for forgiveness on more that one occassion due to cursing! I had an old Brother for 15 years and should have gone back to Brother instead of being fooled by the Epson price. You get what you pay for. So far so good with the paper feed and faxing. I would recommend this machine.

We purchased this as an upgrade to the one we had. I like it much better as it has a paper tray and keeps the paper clear. No problems.

Good fax , printer , copier
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I just purchased the 2820 from Amazon. I was concerned about the quality and the power surge noted by some in their reviews. As for the quality I have been very satisfied.the paper curl mentioned by some might be caused by using low quality paper, you must use laser quality 24 wt paper The power surge at first gave me some problems, however I purchase a quality surge protecter and I have not had any other problems, also it might be helpful to turn on the fax first thing and then any other computers etc.I have it connected to my computer and use it as a copier and printer and as of now I have not experienced any problems. It does take up lot of space but the unit is well worth it.Overall thi is a very good fax, printer, copier and would recomend it.

not a “speaker phone”
Rating:2 out of 5 stars
Misreprsented as a speaker phone – even though I called and spoke to a Brother representative who told me it had a speaker phone function.

An overall suitable product
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I bought the 2820 because it doubles as a laser printer, and is not much bigger than the inexpensive laser printers on the market. It is capable as a printer, fax machine, and copier, although it is not a flat bed, so you can not copy some things, like a driver’s license. The fax machine is not color, but this is consistent with the printer. It is also only a 14.4 kbps FAX, but I don’t fax very much anyway, so it’s of little consequence. Overall a fine product. Check Amazon sellers who often have this product at a discount.

Everything I needed.

Inexpensive price and cost per page. Performs exactly as I need. My only question is whether it will last.

Fair
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
Excelleent print quality, good connectability, a couple of negetives: the machine will not print a confirmation on reveived fax, indicating the number of pages received with sender information, some difficulty setting the auto redial on busy numbers. overall the unit is a high quality machine, robust and easy to operate.

Very fast, lots of programming we probably won’t use, but great on the basics and options for lots of things.

Works as advertised
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Bought this to replace an ink jet fax/printer and before that a film based fax. I’m hoping that the cost of consumables will be lower. I have bought a number of Brother printers and faxes in the past and have been happy with their build quality and performance.

This is an easy to use machine. You will need a bit of desk space for it, but over-all, this is a good machine.

Brother Fax Review
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
This fax does everything we need it to. This is our 2nd purchase of this model(we have another at a different location). The best feature in my opinion is the fact that the page or pages are faxed from memory, not directly, so if the page jams (it never has so far) you know about it before, not as the page is actually being transmitted. I would highly recommend this product.

My experience with Brother Intellifax 2820 Fax and Copier
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
My Brother Intellifax arrive just two weeks ago but I am extremely pleased with the performance of the machine. It has all the bells and
whistles, and more, that you need for a home office machine. It replaced
a ten-year old Brother fax which was adequate but slow. The 2820 is remarkably fast.

Does Not Work, THREE TIMES OVER
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
I contacted Brother support to get the machine replaced due to the issues with my original machine. Support was extremely helpful and overnighted a new machine and was *supposed* to include a return shipping label to return the previous machine. They did not. To top it off, the new machine still did not work. The document feeder still picks up multiple pages at once. So, they sent me another machine, again without a return label. The new machine has no LCD display….as in whoever built the machine forgot it. There is a clear plastic window where it is supposed to be, and I can see about two inches down to a circuit board inside. Now, customer support has suddenly become rude and does not appear to want to fix the problem. For three days now, they keep telling me someone will call me back within a couple hours, and nobody ever calls. I will certainly avoid all Brother products from now on, and I would advise all potential customers the same.

Faxing for Dummies!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
After 2 Panasonic fax machines failed, I decided to risk trying something new, not an easy task when you are an “electronically challenged” senior citizen who went kicking and screaming from the typewriter to the computer. I was amazed at how easy it was to set up my Brother IntelliFax 2820. I didn’t have to call my geeky son in Atlanta or equally geeky nephew in Sacramento. This machine came out of the box ready to go and, within an incredibly short amount of time, was fully functioning. It’s beautiful, efficient and inexpensive. Kudos to Brother for creating such a gem!

Nice laser fax
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I purchased this fax because I have had good luck with Brother fax machines in the past. It’s very similar in design and function to previous models we’ve owned. I expect to have this one for many years.

Reasonable office fax machine
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
Purchased for an office that receives and sends less than 500 faxes per month. Setup was easy. Fax quality it reasonable. Drum replacement costs, while substantial, are less then competitors.

Adequate but prone to paper jams
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
We have used the 2820 for some time in our office, but unfortunately after about a year or so of usage it become increasing prone to paper jams which occur frequently. You might be better off with a Brother multifuntion.

Excellent but one ugly problem
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
Great machine, good functionality, particularly with the auto sensing of an incoming fax vs phone call. Our fax is on the same line as our phone; if I pick up the phone anywhere in the house and it’s a fax, you simply do nothing and the fax machine takes over and starts.
Easy setup, pretty good menu system, good copies, no jams yet. Jams are a common problem with most fax machines I’ve had but that can be fixed easily if you have access to the rubber rollers that feed the paper…Panasonic machines are horrible to get to the rollers, this Brother fax is GREAT!
One nasty little issue is the caller ID function. We have caller id on our phone line and this fax has a caller id text to voice converter that announces verbally over the fax machine who is calling. There is no way to turn that function off so every time any phone call (fax or voice) comes in the fax is “yelling” at you who is calling. Using the menu to turn the handset and speaker volumes off does not stop this problem. Some folks might like that feature but we do not and since there is no way to turn it off it is pretty aggravating to us. After a month or so, my plan is to simply open the fax machine up and cut one of the speaker wires. This will void the warranty of course but we don’t care since it’s only a $150 fax machine.

THIS MACHINE RECEIVES FAXES QUICKLY.IT HASN’T FAILED YET.THE TONER CARTRIDGE HAS OUT RUN THE 4 HP CARTRIDGES IN OUR OFFICE JET 6300. IT GETS VERY HEAVY USE 1 OR 2 HP CARTRIDGES A WEEK. PRINT QUALITY IS VERY GOOD. I RATE THIS FAX BETTER THAN ITS OFFICE JET COUNTERPARTS REGARDING DURABILITY AND ECONOMY.
