For $109, this printer is fantastic. Easy to set up, prints quickly and colors are bright. Haven’t used all the features yet, but its handy to have the ability to scan too. Separate color cartridges are nice so you can replace them individually.

An All In One should have a fax feature – this one does not.
    Rating:4 out of 5 stars
Overall, I would say this is a very good printer/scanner/copier. Print speed is fast and the quality is good. It seems to use more ink than I’m used to (I’ve owned another Epson and a Brother before). Start up is loud and sometimes a little startling (paper feed). It is compact but sturdy in construction. My biggest disappointment is that I expected to be able to send a fax because it is described as an ALL IN ONE. My others had a fax feature. This one does not. So if you need to fax, keep looking. Other than that, I recommend it.

This printer is everything I expected and more!! I love it!! My only complaint regarding this order is that shipping took a little longer than I expected.

THIS PRINTER IS AN INK HOG!
    Rating:2 out of 5 stars
I tried two of these printers. They print well, they scan well, they are fast, they set up easily, the scanner software is amazing, but THEY ARE INK SPONGES. Both printers used up half their ink on 10 5×7 highest quality photos and 15 copies of a MS Word letter. The printer wastes a LOT of ink when it starts up from sleep mode, and even uses ink when all you want to do is scan. I took both of them back to Best Buy.

    Very Pleased
    Rating:4 out of 5 stars
The product arrived quickly and was fairly easy to set up.

The print quality is very good, but it’s a little noisy when it loads the paper. We might have to move it out of the nursery/office because we can’t run it when the baby is sleeping. Other than that, I have no complaints.

    Epson Stylus NX515 WIFI
    Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I have owned this for about 1 week now, and bought to replace an not to old all in one printer, (not a Epson), and I can’t get over how much better this one is. It smokes my old printer. The installation was so simple and fast I had the whole job done in about 1 hour from the time I unpacked it and plugged it in. The only thing I can’t say right now is how long the ink will last, This was the main reason why I left Epson printers in the past, But after seeing the way my pictures faded with the old printer I really wasn’t saving anything. I gave it four stars only for not knowing about the ink issue.

    Not recommended for Mac!
    Rating:3 out of 5 stars
Received my Epson NX515 the other day, networked wifi setup was very easy. Initial impressions were that this machine looks fine, prints are completed very quickly although it is rather noisy. I was using an HP 2575 (I think) previously, as well as various Lexmarks before that, and these all had the typical inkjet clunkiness but I don’t remember any of those being as loud. Print quality for black text is ok on normal settings and can be improved to very good by selecting higher quality (similar to the HP), although it is somewhat ironic that this causes the output to slow right down, on a par or slower than other typical inkjets. So it seems the ‘speed demon’ attributes of this machine are achieved by using the draft setting as its default.

Now to the serious problems, this machine’s memory card slots will not communicate to a Mac for some reason. This is particularly annoying as only the latest generation Macbooks have SD card slots (none support CF or any other format) so being able to transfer card data over a network is certainly desirable. I have discovered some work around, where each time the printer’s id can be input to an OSX machine to access the card slots, but this is a rather cumbersome approach. With Epson’s emphasis on photo printing and Mac’s known absence of card slots on most of their machines, I would have thought this would be one area where the AIO would seek to provide some added functionality.

Also rather strangely, Epson has omitted any possibility of duplex printing from a Mac! I cannot understand the reasoning for this, as they promote the 2-sided printing ability quite prominently in their advertising – a function that most users would expect as standard. This is inexplicable and inexcusable, I only hope they fix this soon in one of their software updates (as they did for the Snow Leopard interface).

Overall, it seems pretty good in the tasks that it will actually perform but the lack of functionality for OSX users means that this cannot possibly be recommended. Back to HP for an AIO, I suppose…

    Epson NX515

After reading other reviews I chose this printer and it has lived up to

very good reviews. Wireless installation was very simple, just load a

special driver from the CD. I haven’t used long enough to comment on

ink usage. One flaw is that draft mode printing is very faint, almost unusable. A good buy.

    Good but Noisy Printer
    Rating:4 out of 5 stars
Over the years, I have owned many HP printers but this is my first Epson. I was attracted to this model by the Epson’s features and cost. Positive reviews by several computer sites and magazines was also a big factor.

Setup was easy and the buttons are well laid out. Using these buttons along with the onboard LCD display made it easy to print from a memory card without using the computer.

I was immediately satisfied with the print quality but it took a little tweaking before getting a satisfactory photo scan. After confirming that descreening and dust removal were selected from within the Epson Scan program, the results were very good. I would think that these settings could vary according to the specific type of scan you are doing.

Overall, I have been very happy with this all-in-one. When compared to previously owned HP products, the print and scan results are as good as or maybe a little better in quality.

I connected this printer locally by USB and use the wireless feature to access the printer from the other computers on my network. The wireless feature works well and there was no problem setting it up.

If you plan to do a lot of late night printing, keep in mind that this is a very noisy printer. The grinding sounds like there is a problem with the paper feed but wasn’t unexpected since I had read other reviews stating the same thing.

Since I have only owned the Epson for about a month, I can’t speak about its endurance over the long haul but if the noise doesn’t bother you, I would recommend this printer/scanner for home use.

    So far so good
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
It’s been a couple of weeks since we received it and started using it, so I can write what I fee so far.

There’s no major problem so far. The only things I notice were: 1) PC freezes sometimes when I try to print something. If I wait for about 1/2 minite, the freeze is gone and start printing. 2) For only a few times, the printer takes forever to start printing. I don’t what caused that, but I think the printer wasn’t warmed up enough before printing.

I can’t say that both incidents were caused by the printer, but those had never happened before installing the printer. (We use a newer HP PC desktop with Windows Vista Home Prem.) Those incidents happened only few times so far, so I don’t count it as problems.

Overall the printer is good deal for the one with multi functions.

    Good printer, so-so scanner.
    Rating:4 out of 5 stars
Had it for a couple months and have printed a couple hundred pages, mostly on photo setting. Have yet to replace an ink cartridge. Very noisy when printing. Scan bed is not level–it leans slightly so when setting objects on it they would roll toward the edge. I had to put a book under it to level. The scan quality is good for black and white documents, but color documents or other items the scan is average. It seems other reviewers like this better than I do–maybe I just got a crappy unit.

    Worst Epson I’ve owned
    Rating:3 out of 5 stars
I’ve used Epson printers for years and have been happy with them. I bought this one (N515) a month ago and am most disappointed. It is the worst ink guzzler I’ve ever owned. I did a fairly large color photo print job over the week-end and it’s cost me over $1 per page in ink. It isn’t finished yet because I ran out of magenta and cyan for the third time, after our local stores had closed. It’s also extremely noisy. It sounds like it’s falling apart when it pulls a new sheet of paper in. I finally put it on a foam pad, which helped a little, but I still hear it far from my office door. The pictures are still the Epson quality I expected, but for the two above reasons, my next printer will not be an Epson.

    Good choice
    Rating:4 out of 5 stars
So far I can only say this has been a very wise decision. The quality for the money cannot really be beat. Especially with the blue tooth capability, which is the only way I use it. I recommend this printer all in one to anyway despite my limited use in one month.

  14. S. Fox Says:

    Pretty nice.
    Rating:4 out of 5 stars
So far so good. Been using it for about 3 days now. Very good color and prints fast with the WiFi. Good color for the photo print that I did.

Copy was excellent , but the scan images were not as good as my Canon scanner. Was easy to hook and and set up the WiFi.

  15. RML Says:

Easy, fast, noisy, designed to use ink
    Rating:4 out of 5 stars
Easy to set up. Easy to program for wireless operation. Print quality is good, about the same as my old HP. It’s really fast and the paper feed system is excellent. Controls are easy to use. The paper feed system is very noisy, but probably no worse than most cheap printers. The big downside is that Epson determines when you are “out of ink.” This occurs before it is time to really replace the cartridge. When my old HP said I was out of ink I just kept printing until I could see by the print that it was really empty. Sometimes I could print dozens of pages before it ran out. The Epson will just stop working when it decides that you need new ink. If you remove and reinsert the same cartridge it still will not work. From what I see on the web this system cannot be hacked, or at least not very easily. Therefore, you will be buying ink way too often. I know they practically give the printer away to sell the ink, but this insults my intelligence and my billfold!

  16. C. Barnes Says:

Hope you got plenty of $$$ for ink
    Rating:2 out of 5 stars
I have owned this printer for about a month, and was really impressed with the ease of setup and the convenience of printing wirelessly. However in the past month, I have printed at the most 100 pages of PLAIN TEXT and it is already time to replace the ink cartridge. Before purchasing this printer, I would advise you to read the reviews on the ink cartridges, where other frustrated epson users have vented about the money that has been spent on ink. After buying two of the high capacity cartridges which would last an average person 2-3 months at the most, you have spent enough to buy a new printer. NOT worth the flashy features of this printer.

  17. Ed W. Says:

    Havn’t lost a beat…
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Not much to say over and beyond all the accolades of this printer. Everything set up and works as advertised. The instruction manual and set up instructions are clear and precise…the ink installation and paper set ups are a breeze….and the step-by-step directions had me up and running in no time. The operations from scanning, copying and printing are fast and flawless and the quality of the print is outstanding. If there can be any slight criticism, it has to do with a long delay with which the printer takes to print from a standby mode. It takes the printer a good 40-60 seconds to print a page. Once however the printer is working, the speed and quality is amazing. This is actually the 2nd same printer in the family….I purchased this for my daughter to use at college. She is very happy with it and so I took that leap of faith and bought one for home. I am confident that for the money, it is the best all-in-one printer out there and provides the fastest speed and highest quality even vs. printers of higher price.

I certainly recommend this printer…it has earned 5 stars in my book!

I have had several other wireless printers and they were not always connected to the wireless network without tinkering (turning on/off, etc.) … the Epson Stylus was easy to set up and is also immediately available on the network. Quality of copies of great and so far ink is managed well. Great price and great product!

I couldn’t be more pleased with this printer. The price was right- especially through Amazon. It was easy to set up and each function worked well. Although it is far faster than any printer I’ve had before I was particularly impressed with the print quality. I should be using this printer for a long time.

    Setup Misery
    Rating:3 out of 5 stars
Prints great pictures, and the price is right. Text looks great, too, and it’s relatively fast. Scans look great. But if you are thinking about getting this and you have Macs, beware: The setup is painful. I finally got it to work for one computer, but never could for another. I finally downloaded Gutenprint [...] for the NX400 series, and that seems to work, but does not offer all features. And on the one where I got the Epson drivers to work, it crashes iPhoto. Could be a Snow Leopard problem, in which case I hope it will clear up soon. EPSON also loads dozens and dozens of setup files onto your hard drive that make troubleshooting a challenge. The web-based help is not so good.

  22. Matthew K. Morgan Says:

    Fast, excellent output, easy setup
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I bought this all-in-one because my other printer is not a copy-capable printer and we need that capability. I did some research and finally decided on the Epson NX515 after reading several reviews. So far I have been very pleased with it. I have a couple of small gripes but nothing that cannot be overlooked.

The NX515 is actually a relatively small printer, taking up a little less space than any of my previous printers. It is also lightweight and easy to move should there be a need.

Setting up the NX515 is simple. There is a quick-start guide that explains the process of configuration and it makes the set-up almost foolproof. From the time I opened the box to the time I had a working printer that was producing output was less than 15 minutes, and there were no confusing or difficult steps in the process.

The only negative about the setup is that Epson, like almost every other printer vendor, does NOT include a USB cable in the box. The cost of a USB cable is actually only a couple of dollars (they’re a high-profit item) so including one would not break the bank. If you do no have a spare USB cable available and you wish to direct-connect this printer, be sure to pick one up before trying to set up.

Once configured, the NX515 is a very capable printer. It has the fastest print speeds I have ever seen in an inkjet, printing faster in standard mode than I have seen most printers print in draft mode (for standard text – does not apply to photo printing). The quality does not suffer either and is excellent. I was pleased to see than this printer does not produce the banding I have seen in Epson printers’ output in the past.

The control panel for setting up copying is very easy to read and very easy to navigate. It is very simple to change copy parameters and the instructions in the panel are straightforward.

I have not used the scanning capabilities of the NX515.

One feature I wish was available, even if it required buying an attachment, is automatic duplex printing. My other printer handles duplex printing with ease and requires no intervention at all. The NX515 does duplex printing but it requires manual intervention. This is a minor inconvenience, not a deal-breaker.

Epson has produced a very nice all-in-one in the NX515. The setup is simple and the print speeds are absolutely stunning. It is by no means a perfect device but it is an excellent product at an excellent price (approximately $110 at the moment). If you need a printer that can handle scanning and copying while producing beautiful prints, give this printer a close look.

  23. Paxson Pynchon Says:

Very good, though very noisy printer
    Rating:4 out of 5 stars
Bought this printer after seeing reviews here and at CNET. I had it running in fewer than ten minutes, and most of that was simply waiting for the drivers to load from the disk.

My only real gripe about the printer so far is that it’s incredibly noisy. When you push the ‘print’ button, you have to brace yourself – it’s launches into BimBangBOOM action. I’m going to get a longer USB cord so I can get it away from the area where I use the telephone.

Right out of the box I printed documents, photos, scanned docs to my computer, and copied. All of it worked without a single head scratching moment. I didn’t have to do any fine tuning to make it do what it’s supposed to do. (I was ready for a half hour of tweaking and adjusting like one normally must do with so many new peripherals.)

Way better than the Kodak machine it’s replacing.

    Good value and good performance
    Rating:4 out of 5 stars
We purchased this unit to replace freestanding flatbed scanner and inkjet printer units. It works great and required no special effort to install (not used wirelessly). As a copier it is very convenient with one-button use. The print function is very good, if noisy. Do not attempt to use the draft mode, as it is illegible. The scanner function seems to be a good quality, but the scanner on-screen commands are not particularly intuitive, compared to our old HP unit. Overall, a good choice for the money, for home use.
