Runs out of ink very quickly and ink is always out of stock
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
Print quality is very poor and it eats ink. Currently ink is out of stock in stores and online. This is unacceptable for a NEW MODEL printer, probably due to the fact that you run out of ink very fast.

What happened to ink?
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
I received the Lexmark X4650 Wi-Fi printer last week, but so far I haven’t been on able to check the functionality of the unit. It arrived without a color cartridge. I contacted ‘Tech for Less’ and was told that it would be sent out last Tuesday; it is now one week later and and I still have no color cartridge.
Sincerely,
Rachel A. Figura

Nice Features Low Price
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I have been pleased with this little LexMark 4560. WiFi was only feature that I was really interested in. I use laptops so having a wired printer wouldn’t do me much good. Connection to my network was painless. Just a few clicks and the software did the rest.
Love the Optical Character Recognition. I have already used it to convert documents into Word. There are some errors here and there but easier to fix those than retype the entire document.
PictBridge makes printing pictures a snap! You don’t even have to turn your computer on. If your digital camera doesn’t support PictBridge, just make use of the card reader (and your computer)on the face of the machine.
There seems to be quite a bit of lag time communicating once the printer has gone into power savet mode.

The printer works, but not without calling the company, for every little thing. There is no manual with the the printer, just a phone number. A real pain.

Get me a refill? Yeah Right! Wrong! No REFILLS EVER!
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
This printer set up quick.Worked great. That is until after about 50 black and white pages,a screen kept popping up:black ink level is low.So I attempted to refill the cartridge.I refilled it and upon loading the refilled cartridge, the new message was that I still needed to buy a new cartridge!Come to find out, this printer uses a large quantity of ink!As for the color cartridge,it takes over printing after the black ink cartridge is low. Then eventually you end up purchasing 2 new cartridges!I wish I had known about this before I purchased it…..It takes no re-fills!….Why pay $24.00 for a cartridge, when you can buy black ink for $10.00, and it will last for 8-12 refills?….Into the trash can for this printer!!!

Lexmark 4650 Never Worked on my Mac
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
I bought one of these for $100 at Office Max. It installed and worked well on my Windows XP machine but crashed on install on my Mac OS X 10.5.7. So I called Lexmark they spent an hour and a half trying to reinstall the same software and then told me they could not solve the problem and a senior tech would have to help me. The guy called me a couple times but never when he promised to do so and left me a callback number that goes straight to voicemail. I can’t get any Linux support for it so I have to treat it as a Windows Share and go through my XP machine. Finally, the thing is very cheaply constructed. I will not buy any Lexmark products again.

SUPERB CUSTOMER SUPPORT
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I purchased this Lexmark printer after researching it thoroughly on the internet and paying attention to the reviews by customers. I received it, followed the set up instructions and in spite of how easy it is to set up, I must have done something wrong. HERE’S WHERE THE RUBBER MEETS THE ROAD. I call Lexmark, am speaking with a customer service rep within two minutes, and she establishes a remote access to my computer, goes in and diagnoses the problem, uninstalls the software and reinstalls it correctly. Unbelievable. I have never experienced such excellent help from any technology company. Especially computer equipment companies.
When she got done, it worked perfectly. This makes so much sense I don’t know why other corporations don’t do this. I put up with crappy HP printers for years. Never again.

Works well
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Got this printer about two months ago. I don’t print a whole lot (a few pages a week) but setup was very easy from each computer. If you have any firewall software installed check to allow the Lexmark program from connecting to your network.
Otherwise had it installed in about 10-15 minutes. I have not used the scanning capabilities yet.

Rather pleased
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I ordered this printer after reading several other reviews listed on Amazon. I was looking for a wireless printer to use with my new laptop; so far this one has fulfilled my need. The only problem that I have experienced is that sometimes it does not print multiple pages of a document. I haven’t yet figure out what causes that, but all in all the printer is quite nice.

It prints… sometimes.
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
I just moved and I needed a printer to print out some resumes, so I go to Wal-Mart or Fred Meyer or some other such store to pick one up for all my home office needs. I had a Lexmark All-In-One type printer before , which I LOVED and couldn’t be happier with (the model which I do not remember), so I decide to go Lexmark again and figure this is the updated version with the fancy wireless option, to go perfectly with my new laptop.
Well, since then, I still have not figured out how to set up the wireless, I have an error message pop-up almost every time I try to print. It’s extremely difficult to load the paper so that it actually feeds, and sometimes the paper jams regardless. Sometimes when I try to print, it freezes my browser. Just now, I tried to print a multiple-page document (my e-ticket for a flight home this weekend) and it only printed page one.
Overall, there is rarely a time that I try to print something without some sort of frustration or difficulty involved. I really don’t know what happened with this one.

Well, it looks good.

My general theory on printers is “They don’t work,” and the Lexmark X4650 lives up to that expectation.
I have succeeded in printing exactly one item wirelessly, the day after I tried to print it initially. I don’t know what happened. It just popped out (and burned up a sheet of photo paper in the process. You owe me, Lexmark.).
The included software is garbage and does not function in Mac OS 10.6. Yes, I downloaded the most recent software upgrade from the Lexmark site dated mid-September. The software quits unexpectedly, rendering the wireless functionality useless.
I have scanned one item “wirelessly”. By “wirelessly”, I mean the printer was in one room, the computer was in the other room and I used my feet to walk the file on a USB drive, which the X4650 will scan directly onto.
If you are going to use this machine tethered via USB, I would imagine it’s okay. I got decent, not great, photo prints out of it while wired, but that’s not while I bought the thing. We’re a laptop house and having either machine tethered to this brick defeats the purpose.
I have owned 2 HP printers, both of which were useless in less than a year. Fool me once, HP. Now I’m done with Lexmark, too. Who’s next in the 2010-2011 season? I’m looking at you, Epson. Skip it.

GREAT PRINTER, GREAT PRICE
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This printer was a breeze to connect wirelessly. Print quality is superb. Black and white pages print very quickly, color not so quickly but the quality makes up for the speed in this case. It was very easy to set up more than one laptop to print to this printer. I highly recommend this item !

I Do Not Like This Printer
Rating:2 out of 5 stars
Like the review said below, the stars must be aligned to DO EVERYTHING on this printer. This is the second printer now for the Lexmark 4650. I thought the printer was seriously broken. It would not connect to my Mac Pro for the life of me. I tried reinstalling software, restarting my computer and finally it connected.
Pro’s: it prints nicely, but that is it.
Con’s: The rollers don’t pick up the paper and when it does it will take about 4 sheets with it instead of one. No joke. When trying to scan function with the USB option the computer does not recognize my USB 2 Gig Stick at ALL. I can not scan and send to computer, that feature doesn’t work. The only way is to insert an SD card then I have to take it out and plug it in my Mac. It’s really just been nothing but a pain.
It shouldn’t be this hard to print a page or scan or copy something and transfer by usb or wifi, but non of the features will work.
This is the second one that has done this to me. Buy it. And if you get the same problems, RETURN IT.

Color cartridges
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
This printer is great and setup instantly. Photo quality is outstanding. The only concern is with the cost of the color ink. I did a project with 5-6 snapshots a page with a total of 28 pages and it used 2 full color cartridges, the regular ones not the high capacity. Didnt touch the black ink at all. It seems like a lot. Consider doing less 4×6 pages or ordering prints of your images!

Love my Lexmark Wireless Printer
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I had just recently purchased a new HP laptop computer and needed to get a wireless printer. My daughter has had a Lexmark printer and told me how much she liked it. I checked various wireless Printers and found that the Lexmark that I purchased was a great price. so I decided that a Lexmark printer would be my next printer. THe Ink cartridges are also alot cheaper than other ink cartridges. I couldn’t be more pleased with my purchase.

Work Well And Easy Set Up
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This printer was easy to set up and works with both my laptops. One is loaded with Vista and the other with XP. Fax is not mentioned, but I have been able to send a fax using the Magic Jack voip and a $25.00 USB fax modem.
I admit I am a confirmed Lexmark customer, but so far all my Lexmark printers work well and I have three.
For an inexpensive printer I have no complaints. As mentioned in previous reviews, two sided printing takes a little effort. But for an inexpensive printer, I will make the necessary effort.
As with others, I like the ink cartridge return feature. This printer sits in my living room and does not take up a lot of space and is not an eye sore.
I have used the scanner and it seems to work OK, but as mentioned is not super fast.

Primitive photo scanning, OK printing
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
I got a Lexmark 4650 yesterday. I have already experimented with all features. The set-up guidance is clear, so long as one knows that (on a Mac), when one gets to Printer Choice for a WiFi connection, one should choose Search Remote. That finds the Lexmark’s IP address. The printing is on a par with the other ink-jets I’ve owned. The controls for scanning, photo printing, and copying are accessed on the machine, not via on-screen user interface. That would be inconvenient unless the printer is placed nearby. That also seems old fashioned. Most old-fashioned, and a surprise, and a disappointment, is that the scanning software can’t sense when more than one photo is placed on the scanner. It just copies them as though they were one page. This is radically different from the HP C4385 that I hoped to replace (because its paper feed has been defective from day one and now mostly won’t work). But the two-year-old HP scanning software recognizes several photos at a time and scans them as individual files. That is a great time-saver when digitizing old photos. I had rashly supposed that this would be industry standard by now. Oops–my blunder for trusting. Otherwise, given the reduced price, the Lexmark might be a four+ star value.

Lexmark is a Ripe off can’t refill the ink cartridge
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
It seems I have made a huge mistake in buying another Lexmark printer.
I am a senior on a very low income so I refill cartridges so I am able
to print. That has come to an end using your X4650 printer the printer
has a chip in the print cartridge that stops you from refilling. I will never
buy a Lexmark product again and plan to expose this cheap tactic to all
my friends. I thought I got a good deal when I bought this printer Lemark
screwed me big time. I have a legel right to put any cartridge in
my machine I wish to as long as it works. This is the lowest thing I
have ever seen a large company do. Using refilled cartriges has never
effected any printer I have owned. I am selling this printer on Craigs list
and am buying a printer that I can reset the ink level

Most problems I’ve ever had with a product
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
I tried to install the driver for the printer on THREE different Toshiba laptops- two with Vista OS the other with Windows XP- One Vista laptop was only two weeks old- There was no problem in setting up the wireless- BUT I kept receiving error messages about the Spooler- this was consistent across all three laptops- I spent more than 3 hours with a Lexmark technician on-line trying to fix and or diagnose the problem- To no avail- I tried various ploys- disabling Virus program, using Microsoft Fixit which removed all other printer drivers, etc. Nothing worked- I eventually have returned this product.
I am not a computer scientist and shouldn’t even have to know about spoolers etc. to set up a machine like this. Beware!

almost useless
Rating:2 out of 5 stars
This printer sucks. I have tried to get the wireless printer to work with my PC and my brothers Mac. It won’t connect to my computers or network, and it won’t scan directly to my hard drive, so I have to use a memory card, which sucks because as I found out yesterday, you have to check your scans after every few pictures because it likes to say it is saving and then not save. Also the auto-size on the scan doesn’t work.
However, the printer works by hard wire. I haven’t tried to print a picture yet, and quite frankly I’m a little scared. I’m going to take this thing back.

NO SUPPORT FOR WINDOWS 7
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
This printer works fine when using USB cables, however I am not able to do wireless printing. I checked the Lexmark website and found that it doesn’t support Windows 7 (I have a brand new laptop). Also, I am getting a weird message since installing the printer software: Microsoft.Net Framework 2.0 must be downloaded (in order for everything to work correctly). Well, I tried to download it from the MS website and the graphics that come up are so old looking this must be an ancient application – then it finally says it doesn’t support 64 bit. So far, I am really disappointed – I guess there was a reason it was on sale.

This printer prints well over wireless to PC’s but I could not get it to print over wireless with my macbook pro. Thankfully, it will print from my mac if using the included usb cable.
